Privacy policy

We build Schematik for makers. We try to be careful with their data.

This page explains what Schematik collects, why we collect it, and what choices you have. It is written plainly because privacy should not require a legal dictionary.

A note from Sam

Schematik is still young. We use modern infrastructure and AI providers to make hardware easier to build, and that means project data may move through systems we trust to run the product. We keep this policy conservative on purpose: assume anything you type into Schematik may be processed to make the product work.

What we collect

When you use Schematik, we may collect account details, project prompts, chat messages, selected components, generated code, wiring diagrams, assembly steps, feedback, and basic usage or device information.

We also collect logs, errors, and generation traces when they help us understand what broke or how to make the product better.

Why we use it

We use this information to run Schematik, sign you in, generate projects, save your work, answer support requests, debug failures, prevent abuse, and improve the product.

We do not sell personal information. If that ever changes, this policy should change first.

AI and project content

Schematik uses AI providers to turn your instructions into code, wiring, and assembly guidance. Your prompts, project context, generated output, and related metadata may be sent to those providers to complete a request.

Please do not put secrets, private keys, financial details, medical information, or other sensitive personal information into Schematik. Treat prompts and project files as product data that may be processed, stored, and reviewed for debugging.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and local storage for login, security, preferences, and product functionality.

We use analytics and debugging tools to understand where people get stuck and where the product breaks. These tools may collect page views, events, device details, approximate region, referrers, and similar usage data.

Who helps us run Schematik

We use service providers for hosting, databases, authentication, email, analytics, AI, logging, and support. This includes tools such as Vercel, Neon, Better Auth, PostHog, Resend, and AI model providers.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect Schematik or our users, or as part of a financing, acquisition, restructuring, or similar company event.

How long we keep it

We keep information for as long as we reasonably need it to provide the product, support users, improve reliability, meet legal obligations, and protect the service.

Some logs are short-lived. Some account, project, backup, or audit records may stay longer. When we no longer need data, we delete it, aggregate it, or de-identify it where practical.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information.

Email us if you want help with this. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
