Serial GPS/GNSS receiver breakouts are for positioning, not cellular data. Check antenna, update rate, voltage, backup battery and host interface before swapping modules.

General board checks (6)
- Decide whether the project needs satellite positioning, mobile-network data, or both. A GPS breakout is not a cellular substitute.
- Match host interface: serial UART, USB, I2C or board-specific library support.
- Check supply range, logic input tolerance, navigation current and whether the host can power the module cleanly.
- Compare antenna setup: internal patch, u.FL/external active antenna, enclosure placement and cable adapter needs.
- Check backup battery expectations separately from main power.
- Use the Adafruit product page/guide and the seller listing as the final source before buying or swapping.
