Solar

A bare panel is not a power supply. Match panel voltage to a solar power manager or charger first, then size wattage for the battery and load you actually run.

Solar panels from 1.5V 250mA flexible film to 18V 10W polysilicon, MPPT solar power managers (DFRobot 5V and 9V/12V/18V, Waveshare 6V–24V), bq25185 charger boards and LTC3588 energy-harvesting breakouts.

  • Panels span 1.5V 250mA flexible film to Waveshare's 18V 10W polysilicon panel; DFRobot's 5V 1A monocrystalline and Adafruit's 6V 3.7W panel are the usual sizes for single-cell LiPo rigs.
  • Solar power managers do the battery side: DFRobot's Solar Power Manager 5V and 9V/12V/18V variants regulate panel input with MPPT; Waveshare's 6V~24V management module and Solar Power Manager (B) handle bigger panels — the (B) embeds a 10000mAh Li-Po, the (C) takes 3x 18650s.
  • Adafruit's bq25185 boards accept solar, USB or DC input on one charger; the 3.3V Buck version adds a regulated rail so the same board powers the project while it charges.
  • Energy harvesting below panel scale lives here too: the LTC3588 breakout is a piezo/solar nanopower buck, and DFRobot's DFM8001 kit covers mechanical, thermal, solar and RF harvesting with MPPT.
