A Feather board without ambition is a Feather board without FeatherWings! This is the NeoPixel FeatherWing, a 4x8 RGB LED Add-on For All Feather Boards!
FeatherWing ground pin used for both NeoPixel power return and data ground reference.
Top-row battery power input to the NeoPixel power diode OR path; Adafruit states VBAT and VUSB feed Schottky diodes so the higher voltage powers the NeoPixels.
Top-row USB power input to the NeoPixel power diode OR path; Adafruit states VBAT and VUSB feed Schottky diodes so the higher voltage powers the NeoPixels.
Single NeoPixel data-control pin selected by solder jumper. Default jumper is pin #6 for Feather 32u4, 328p, M4, nRF52840 and M0, and #16 on ESP8266 Feather; only one jumper should be closed.
Shifted NeoPixel data output at the end of the 32-pixel strip for chaining additional NeoPixels; external NeoPixels need separate power and shared ground.
| Pin | Position | Type | Function | Voltage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| GND | ground | FeatherWing ground pin used for both NeoPixel power return and data ground reference. | 0V ground reference. | |
| VBAT | top row, left-most pin | power | Top-row battery power input to the NeoPixel power diode OR path; Adafruit states VBAT and VUSB feed Schottky diodes so the higher voltage powers the NeoPixels. | Typically 3.7-4.2V from a LiPo battery when running from battery, source-backed by Adafruit Learn. |
| VUSB | top row, third from left | power | Top-row USB power input to the NeoPixel power diode OR path; Adafruit states VBAT and VUSB feed Schottky diodes so the higher voltage powers the NeoPixels. | About 5V USB power when USB is plugged in, source-backed by Adafruit Learn. |
