Mounting

Thread size and standoff height are specs, not afterthoughts. Discovering the M3 screws are 2 mm too long after the enclosure is drilled adds an unpleasant errand to a finished build.

M3 and M2 screw-and-nut sets, nylon and metal standoffs, LED holders in 5–10 mm, and DIN-rail PCB holders. Adafruit's M3 nylon stand-off set and Pimoroni's Pi standoffs handle the most common Raspberry Pi stacking heights.

  • M3 is the dominant thread: DFRobot M3×6 clear nylon screw-and-nut sets, M3×6 to M3×30 low-profile hex cap screws, Adafruit's Black Nylon Machine Screw and Stand-off Set in M3. Metal and white-nylon M2 kits cover boards where M3 clearances are too tight.
  • Nylon standoffs give boards non-conductive feet. Pimoroni's Extended Pi Standoffs and Premium Pi standoff selection handle the common HAT stacking heights on Raspberry Pi.
  • Panel hardware includes Adafruit plastic LED holders in 5, 8 and 10 mm (chromed-metal in 5 and 8 mm), the DIN Rail Generic PCB Holder (50×80 mm) and aluminum-extrusion corner braces for 20×20 profile.
