Cables
Pitch is not the same as compatibility. JST SH 1 mm, JST PH 2 mm, Grove and bare jumper wires can all carry 3.3 V I2C signals and none of them plug into each other.
Around 250 entries: JST SH/PH cable pairs, Grove and STEMMA QT/Qwiic leads, jumper wires, silicone hookup wire from 30 AWG to 8 AWG, and FPC ribbon cables. Ecosystem bridge cables exist for the PH-to-SH pitch mismatch.
- Ecosystem bridge cables solve the pitch gap: the Grove to STEMMA QT/Qwiic/JST SH cable and the 4-pin JST PH to JST SH lead let the 2 mm and 1 mm connector families interoperate.
- Gauge runs from 30 AWG wire-wrap repair wire on 200 m spools through 26 AWG silicone stranded-core hookup wire up to 8 AWG high-temperature silicone wire. Size conductors to the current they carry.
- FPC ribbons are keyed by pin count and pitch: 22-pin 0.5 mm flex for DSI, CSI or HSTX in 5, 10 and 20 cm lengths; 18-pin packs for DFRobot GDI displays; 10-pin programming cables. They are not interchangeable.
- Jumper wires and alligator-clip leads suit breadboard-stage work. Silicone stranded ribbon cable holds up better in permanent wiring that has to flex or route through tight spaces.
